This was very well shot and put together production. I think I enjoyed it a little more than the film. The staging was wonderful. The effects were pretty great. While none of the new songs stood out, they blended well with the popular tunes from the film. Olaf deserves a special mention. The puppetry design and the actor behind it were both excellent. The rest of the casting were on point. Elsa and Anna looks like how I imagined they would in real life, although Elsa's voice was not as strong as Idina. The Duke was a great red herring. The prince was sufficiently two-faced. While I have no problem with the blind casting, especially that of Kristoff, I cannot get over the king and queen looking nothing like the princesses. Did one of the druid/rock troll people dropped a hint that the princesses were adopted. I'm really glad Disney decided to release this proshot. The theatre tickets were too expensive, and I wasn't a big enough fan of the film to go see the musical in theatre.
It has solid production and a few strong performances, but it struggles to match the impact of the original. It is visually polished and whimsical, but the pacing drags at times. Some scenes just feel like filler. Despite its effort to expand the story, the overall experience feels uneven and falls short of the original.
If you are a theatre kid you're going to love it.It was just OK.It doesn't live up to the original.Costumes and the set were gorgeous though.
