"A good man doesn't say that shit." As a sports biopic, it's fine. As a horrifically true story of abuse, it's a gut punch. Insidious, parasitic—evil. Had me feeling sick to my stomach. I can't be the only one who kept thinking of Bob from Insatiable.

I expected this to be really good going in but was honestly surprised by how excellent it really was. I love a good biopic and especially one about a boxer. Sydney Sweeney was unrecognizable and should definitely get some recognition for an Oscar. Ben Foster was also remarkable and should get some recognition himself. I went in not really knowing anything about Christy Martin or her story. I thought the story was so incredibly well told. The pacing is really consistent throughout. The performances are emotional and raw. The entire movie felt so realistic. The boxing scenes are actually really well done. The choreography felt raw and real. I didn’t realize this would be as emotional as it turned out to be. The ending is extremely powerful, heartbreaking and inspiring. I love the way they decided to end her story. I thought it flowed perfectly throughout. The way they handled the topics of domestic abuse was done to perfection. This movie hits exactly the way it should. This is definitely one of the better movies from 2025. I definitely look forward to introducing my dad to this one. I’d highly recommend checking this one out, just be prepared for some heavy themes and topics. * Triple Feature at AMC Crestwood 18

I know nothing about the real Christy Martin. That being said, the movie was a nice and surprisingly tense drama that had some lengths but showed amazing movie-craftsmanship. I really wanted to punch Ben Foster which is a clear sign of tremendous acting. As for Sydney Sweeney she had a wee bit of lacking prowess in some scenes, but I really do slowly find a third reason to like her.

Sydney Sweeney is the current Hollywood it girl because of her looks and busty figure. However, this movie proves she has the chops for playing more than typical roles that the world will assign her based solely on her appearance. At times she's nearly unrecognizable if you didn't know it was her. She pulls off the action and drama in this film pivoting between looking fierce and helpless in the same couple of hours and it WORKS. Shes not the only actor/actress putting on a great performance here. The guy playing her husband did his part well because by the end you will most likely hate him and wish him dead. All-around a pretty decent showing. Plenty of ups and down to rollercoaster your feelings. Mix of Action and drama

I guess Ben Foster and Merritt Wever both did a great acting job here cause I really did hate them. Sydney Sweeney really goes for that Oscar nomination here (sorry, Sydney) - and she's good. But this is really a hard and depressing watch for 2 hours 14 minutes.
