Starts really good, but towards the end it's just getting absurd. Could have been a really cool movie!

How haven't I seen this before or for the most part never even heard of it? Such a cool and dark sci-fi movie with a phenomenal cast. I was gonna give it an 8 if it wasn't for that frustrating editing and sound effects surrounding that one character at the end, also the ending was kinda confusing.

Really good movie with an awesome cast until the ending....that was a dreadful ending

I have a soft spot for space travel based science fiction. A large portion of Sunshine is a portrayal of humans challenged by the pressures of long distance space travel and separation from humanity. I think this is performed half-decently however you did feel left wanting more, primarily with character developments, background and relationships. The performances from Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne and Hiroyuki Sanada where all impressive. On a side not I feel Hiroyuki's character was incredibly important for the film and was left slightly unexplored. The film is visually stunning and does not fail to show it. The music for the film works amazingly. Adagio in D Minor (Surface of the Sun) left me with chills working in tandem with the stunning backdrops to create jaw-dropping moments of tension and climax. I do have some larger issues with the movie which have been left to the spoilers section. [spoiler] I will say that if it where not for the last quarter of the movie I would have been blown away. The introduction of the 'super-human' antagonist really dumbs the movie down and stops it being an interesting study on humans but a Scooby Doo 'horror' chase scene. [/spoiler]
