Fascinating to see Bojack Horseman before Bojack Horseman, right down to starring an Arrested Development alum as the horse. There’s a fascinating, lurid charm to how horny this is, and the animation is stellar, but beyond that it’s far from as deft or as incisive or even as funny as Bojack. But it’s only a pilot. If it had become a full show, could it have grown and surprised? As is it’s an interesting piece of history and not much more.
