(FILMAFFINITY)

I think it's a rather successful remake.
If you don't know the original, then "12 Angry Men" from 1997 is certainly a fantastic movie. However, as a new version of the 1957 film of the same name, it is a somewhat superfluous remake. This is because director William Friedkin decided to stick exactly to the original. Apart from a slightly more diverse cast, there are virtually no changes. Even the court case, including the discussion between the jurors, is virtually identical. Accordingly, there are no surprises. That doesn't make the movie bad in itself, but there isn't really any reason to watch the 1997 version over the original.
Really enjoyed it. I will be honest I have never seen the original. I would like to after seeing that to be able to compare. But there aren’t many films that hold your attention especially when it’s almost 2 hours of people sat or stood in a room talking. I recommend it.
The man didn’t use soap. That’s the real crime.
