If you allow this film to be what it is and appreciate the time and skill it took Ray Harryhausen to create the stop motion animation/effects - it adds a star to the rating. This film has not aged well. I have a feeling that this film got buried by the epic that is/was Star Wars. What was once cutting edge animation got swallowed up and tossed to the side by the coming leap of special effects. Patrick Wayne was miscast and looks like the lost Bee-Gee brother. The story is decent but falters at points. It would be interesting to see a remake of this movie with today’s special effects technology… especially with the use of the Magic Wall.
