[VdR '23] The film emerged from a film workshop by Lav Díaz, establishes an identification between the colonial past of the Philippines and Cuba, to reflect on the survival of the consequences of authoritarian regimes. The conversation between Lav Díaz and a Cuban taxi driver takes place during the first fifteen minutes, a kind of preamble until the title appears, as if the beginning were prompted by the preceding sequence. Through this experimental pseudo-fictional film, Santambrogio establishes a connection between the past and the present through an outstanding formal construction.
