Not to be dramatic, but this movie is absolute dogshit. It feels like the story was ripped off some 1D AU fanfic, and the script has the nuance of an 8th grade creative writing assignment. I genuinely think the only reason all these big names agreed to this project was so that they could spend a couple months in Phuket
I get that this was more a Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt vehicle than Miranda Cosgrove, but what a waste of Miranda. I expected a better mother-daughter dynamic for a Mother's Day movie. Also, this felt barely like it was set in Thailand. While I don't live cheesy tourist-centric movies I expected something a bit more specific to the country than just hanging out at a resort and taking a yoga class. The landscape was gorgeous at least but felt very separate... almost like a postcard. Barely any Thai spoken. I heard at least one Thai song on the soundtrack tho. I don't expect high art from these Hallmark type of films but I want some heartwarming moments and less generic. Disappointingly bland
Was it a masterpiece? No. Did I have fun and is that more important? Absolutely!
The writers and Brooke Shields need to call it in, it's time. Zero creativity with countless cliches and awful lines. 👎
