The film excels at combining archival footage, interviews, and chilling audio recordings, giving the viewer an almost firsthand sense of how quickly fear can spiral into a moral panic. It’s not just about one case, but about how society itself can lose its grip on reason when the right mix of fear, media, and authority figures align.

Excellent to be reminding people about this moral panic and the way society automatically believed the lies just because it wanted them to be true. No matter how well the hype got debunked there are still those who believe in recovered memory syndrome and then the extensions from this that got infected with pizza gate and Qanon.

[Raindance FF '23] The film proposes, with too much conviction, the book "Michelle Remembers" (1980) as the beginning of a kind of contagion about stories of kidnappings, rapes and murders related to the cult of the devil that many people declared they had suffered. And it draws a parallel between the "satanic panic" of the eighties with conspiracy theories like Pizzagate, but by forgetting the political nature of this "fake news", it ends up being the least consistent proposal in the film. Certainly, it raises an interesting reflection on the contagion of fear, but it isn't too revealing.
