Sinopsis

It's so great because it's true. Can't ruin this story as many adaptations have proven. Rühmann is the best incarnation though (Juhnke is 2nd best). It's perhaps the best story about German militarism, bureaucracy and why German eventually became a liberal and social democracy. It's more like a tragedy than a comedy.
