Men in Black at least was a hit for Jones in 1997. Volcano was pretty much him taking a Fugitive approach, towards lava. Except he never heard of lava. Anne Heche is the expert since Tommy Lee Jones's character conveniently has no idea what lava is. Who never heard of lava ? "Stay away from that...stuff over there!" The movie is silly yet I kind of like it. I think the musical score is why mostly.
This movie was cheesy, hilarious fun. The end slo mo hero runs are beyond parody, I loved it. The idea of a volcano in LA is hilarious, also the idea of the red line running anywhere near the Beverly Center. Heyo! LA humor.
Lava in Los Angele and Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche traing to save the people. People close to the lava and not scorch, amazing
Cheesy? Sure. Ridiculous Plot? You got it. Is it fun? You betcha. Its over the top and the CGI was bad for the time and just is laughable now. I think its a good disaster movie, but I think Tommy Lee Jones is a treasure to film. Be that as it may, smoke a little weed or have a couple beers and just enjoy a decent disaster and destruction movie.
