What We Hide was a deeply satisfying watch. Ever since I first saw Mckenna Grace as a young actor in Gifted, I had a feeling she would one day deliver a performance this impeccable. I just didn’t expect it to come so early in her career—what an overachiever. Not only is her acting powerful here, but she also feels perfectly cast as the strong, survivalist big sister. Watching her in this role felt almost like watching a child in my own family grow up and graduate from college. If you enjoyed this film, I recommend Where the Crawdads Sing (2022), which shares similar themes. Coincidentally, Jojo Regina, who plays the little sister in What We Hide, also stars in that movie.
Raw, heartbreaking look at kids forced to survive adult failures. Brutally realistic—loved every minute.
They hid an ok movie somewhere under this. In their defense, its difficult to rest a whole movie on a couple of kids.
