Good movie..why the bad reviews? Critics don't know jack.
So much wasted potential here.
Had a lot of potential. Plenty of good parts but damn was it idiotic at times. I just couldn't justify a better score, no matter how much I enjoyed some of it. Definitely worth a watch.
So aliens wanna punish mankind for not turning into a hippie civilization. But hold your horses, one woman persuaded them with some hugging business that we are worth saving. Btw daddy Smith must be proud of his son who played one of the most annoying little turds seen in the movies. All in all, it wasn't so bad. But you CANNOT use your brain even for a couple of milliseconds or you die of stupidity.
What a poor attempt at updating another classic 50's sci-fi thriller. First off, who casts Keanu Reeves in the heavy role of Klaatu, an entity who is charged with determining the fate of the entire human race? Awful. Even when he was human in the 1920's sequence he looked out of place with his ==fake Abraham Lincoln in a grade school play== beard. The special effects were modern, but not good. The spheres were sorta cheesy but I did like GORT a little. Kathy Bates turned in her usual solid performance, her behavior model was exactly what you would expect from the Secretary of Defense. I'm not sure what Helen was able to prove to Klaatu by loving her step-son, but I for one thank her for saving the planet.
