Nothing special. I expected something atmospheric and tense but it was just average slasher with crazy cgi
Honestly I didn't think that it could be as good as it turned out to be! When I started to watch it my guess was that I was about to see a film that it would simply be a carnage with not too much plot (not that it would have been a bad thing, if made it in the right way) and, partially, is it like that... gorefest and blood spilling all around but also an interesting background for the whole story, for the reasons behind the slaughtering. Plot is solid and actors are good.... also some really interesting filmaking choices. Gladly surprised :)
WTF did i just watch
Blood. So much blood that you could swim in it. The Midnight Meat Train feels like one of those gritty ’80s slasher movies, where a serial killer named Mahogany, also known as The Butcher, targets subway passengers late at night. The killer even wears a suit, as if it’s just another day at work. Why is a Butcher in a suit killing passengers at night? The reveal is unexpected, and it’s best to keep it a surprise until you watch the film and find out. When I realized it was based on Clive Barker's 1984 short story "Books of Blood," the film's mythology and river of blood made more sense. All in all, it’s a strange and brutal film, but I enjoyed it.
The CGI blood effects are a bit off putting. But overall good movie
