It's cheesy, full of cliches, predictable, it pretty much has only beautiful people in it but, man do I love it ! Brings back so many memories watching this as a teenager. I had a huge crush on Megan (Heidi Bohay). It wasn't something earth moving, "just" stories about people. An hour of escapeism to be entertaint and enjoy it. The stories ran from absolutely light to really tough.
The pilot actually had a group rape and even within the first half dozen episodes there was a psycho stalker and a molested child
- in an 80s family drama nonetheless. But you always got your share of romances, life stories and even a bit politics. You can still watch it today because the scripts are timeless and work as well today as forty years ago. Sure, it was a product of it's time but every now and then I like to re-live those times by watching the shows I loved growing up. First two seasons are really great. Had the occasional bad episode but in general it gave me exactly what I was looking for. The weaker episodes were usually the ones where the show tried to be somethibg it was not. Season three took a little bit of a dive because the whole romance thing took up too much space. Dragging it out, constantly going back and forth, until there was no more life in it and it was just annoying to watch. As if there was ever any doubt who it will player out. (I might add to this comment while I re-watch the show)
