This series got me hooked by it's first episode. It's a weird and ironic story but the creators are trying to spread positive messages of open and kind hearted story of the Japanese traditional value in and of life. What a rare anime series. Highly recommended for parents with young children to watch this series together and learn the leasons in each episode together.
It's a slice of life at a hotel with a backdrop of an apocalypse! I found it fun, especially the comedy and tropes the show are parodies of. The way the show sings from a comedic moment to an emotional one and them back again and makes it work is crazy! I was a little disappointed at the OP because it reads as very amateur, though granted, that vibe fits the setting a lot. Overall, cute.
The first few episodes of Apocalypse Hotel provide a decent enough hook, but the show goes nowhere. The passage of time is handled sloppily ("it's been 100 years since the last episode and absolutely nothing has changed!"), there's never any stakes for either plot or character development, and several episodes repeat the same formula without offering anything new. The final episode is an incredibly obvious and mostly insipid payoff to the story arc. As a special note, although the OP somehow grew on me, it is by far the worst I've heard
