The main couple had such great chemistry. For someone who is not the biggest fan of second chance romance plot, this one blew me away. Not only was their first encounter as sad and angsty as I needed it to be, it really shaped their dynamic the second time around. I loved seeing them slowly recognize how much they never got over each other and trying again. And having a kid mixed into all that was just perfect - his acting was well done and I loved his little quips. Of course, he's not just there for some comedy, watching him bond with his new dad was equally sweet. Whilst both their heart conditions are part of that plot, I liked that it's not overdramatized and includes many small moments of what living with a disability is like (taking meds, managing diets, regular checkups, monitoring devices, etc). The show also has a great friendship at its center - Min Hui and Xiao Mu are hilarious together and their dynamic at work was great to see. I just loved that for all the external plots going on, it never went into questioning their skills or expertise in regards to their jobs, and neither love interest was ashamed or angry about them working late or earning more money. Just competent women getting it done. Zhou Ruji was my least favourite character (1. "guy who's in love with his best friend" is a trope I hate and 2. I knew the story would not go the interesting route and allow him to actually be a father figure whilst not being romantically involved with the mother) but the story and his romance with Yao Zishu still won me over in the end. There ended up being no character I disliked or subplot I wish I could skim over.
I have to say they kind of forgot about the kid in the last few episodes, lol. Not that the plot wasn't exciting and I wasn't delightful to see our couple being finally in a proper relationship, but it's odd how they kind of forget about the child they are supposedly raising together. And their wedding felt so incomplete - not only is Cindy not there but neither are his parents?! Unbelievable. And I am ignoring the fact that Xiao Mu might get married later on. That was so unnecessary, I loved that she wasn't into marriage.
