When we last saw Frieren, she was in prison and being confronted by a demon called Draht who had come to kill her. Frieren warns him that she is much more powerful than he thinks, and even stronger than his superior, Aura the Guillotine. In this episode (Frieren the Slayer), Draht ignores the warning and attacks her with his mana-infused wires. Frieren easily overpowers and kills him without much effort. She then escapes the prison and goes incognito to avoid further trouble. The city's **Graf** (a noble title similar to "count" or regional lord/ruler, think of a feudal governor or margrave, not exactly a mayor) becomes suspicious of Draht's disappearance and confronts Lügner (the master demon among the "peace envoys"). With their plot to lower the city's defensive barrier and allow Aura to destroy the city exposed, Lügner captures Graf Granat. Frieren tasks Stark and Fern with freeing Granat while she prepares to confront the more powerful threat ahead. This has been one of the best episodes of Frieren yet. We finally get real action, bloodshed, a satisfying (and quickly dispatched) villain, and the setup for an even more dangerous one, Aura, in the episodes to come.
What a combat title for Frieren😲
