A college student is shot in Central Park on July 4, 2003. The investigation connects a series of mysterious citywide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family fraying under the strain of the many secrets they keep.

I'm glad I kept watching even after many bad reviews. It was so great to see something different, weird, for once.
Ambitious adaptation that loses the novel's structural elegance in translation. The ensemble sprawls without sufficient payoff. Moments of genuine atmosphere undermined by unfocused plotting. Good intentions, inconsistent execution.
[tv+] An incomprehensible way to waste a good novel, beginning by transferring the story of the seventies to post-9/11 New York for no apparent reason. At first it seems like the right decision to portray a city that lives in constant trauma but, like many other elements and characters in the series, the description of this relevant moment is forgotten within a confusing and unbalanced plot that stops at irrelevant aspects, like it wanted to be a new version of "Gossip girl". There are poorly developed plots and a constant feeling of wasted time. [spoiler]But above all, the effort to end everything with unlikely and sappy happy endings is insulting.[/spoiler]
Mindless drivel. Gave it 45 minutes and shut it off before the urge to jump off a bridge took over. 1/10
