The true story of how America got hooked on a lie.
The story of how one company triggered the worst drug epidemic in American history. Look into the epicenter of America's struggle with opioid addiction, from a distressed Virginia mining community, to the hallways of the DEA, and to the opulence of "one percenter" Big Pharma Manhattan.

very well written and very good acting Michael Keaton and Kaitlyn Dever are fantastic all around just a great show about a subject that needed some exposure i never knew so many people got addicted to this drug so easily the company and executives who pushed it should pay dearly
For me this is the winner for this year's Golden Globes, a series that was not heard at all, It has not the glamour of squidgame or 100.000.000 people saw it, it is a marvellous diamond. After the excellent Dr. Death, a corresponding theme series that is simply a masterpiece. You do not know what to praise first, the incredible script, the director tricks with the back and forth and where you are that now we saw this and then takes you even further back to show you how he reached in this part of the story! I do not live in the US so i don't know the actual impact and valid facts only what i've seen from movies/shows about OxyContin but the presentation was amazing. Special mention to Kaitlyn Dever who since she left that miserable politicised comedy she was playing and after the amazing Unbelievable, she now gives another excellent dramatic performance. This is a MUST see.
10 out of 10 for me brilliant show
The show does an excellent job at showing how the crisis the US faced was really caused. If I'm honest I never really take a look at medication my doctor prescribes, I just take them because I trust my physicians. That changes however whenever I am visiting the US, there I always check what a pain-medication does (I have had friends going through rehab and I know I wouldn't survive it having grown up in a cult causing issues giving up control over my own actions) Living in germany, I am wondering if they really tried to get oxycotin on our market prescription free. I could have told them that hell would freeze over before that happened. Doctors are very careful prescribing pain-medication here. You have to have a prescription to get anything stronger than ASS 400mg.
still can't believe it's a real story for a company that still selling drugs!
