One year after "Ringu" and "Spiral", the second direct sequel to the original was released in Japanese cinemas. This time around, the director of the first installment, Hideo Nakata, is back. However, this new attempt to continue the plot around the mysterious video and the girl from the well is not really better than "Spiral—quite the opposite. The film offers almost no shocks, fails to build suspense, and is boring as hell. The new lead actress, Miki Nakatani, is also not as convincing as Hiroyuki Sanada and Nanako Matsushima in the previous movie, both of whom only appear in supporting roles here. The rest of the cast delivers some really questionable performances as well. And with the story, a few too many decisions were made, which I personally disliked. Accordingly, I was more than disappointed with "Ringu 2". Meanwhile, I seriously doubt if any of the sequels will be able to impress me. I'm less worried about the remakes.
A weak sequel not worth the original (Ringu). For fans
