This is such a good adaptation, one of the few movies I've liked having watched them after I read the book. The only thing that I think could have been made better was that scene at Crook's room. I think what he said in the novel was important, how he talked about racism. Besides that, Gary Sinise did such a good job.
This is an excellent adaptation of the American literature classic. Malkovich and Sinse are just excellent in their portraying of the main protagonists. One may like the ending or not, but what is for sure is that there is still a lot of subjects to think and discuss about. As far as movie adaptations of literature go, it is hard to do better than this one, despite the necessary simplifications.
Tragedy is in the air at every turn.
Good remake.
