[MUBI] "I don't believe in prophecies," says Clay in his twilight of life. Turning rumors into reality is a bargaining game similar to the trader's trade. The film wraps itself up in itself: a story within a story, the reflections of the mirrors, the references to "Citizen Kane" (the seashell evokes the snow ball). Visually fascinating, few sex scenes have been shot with such elegance.
