This comical love story follows the story of A.J. Fikry, whose life is not at all what he expected it to be. His wife has died, his bookstore is experiencing the worst sales in its history and now his prized possession, a rare edition of Poe poems, has been stolen. He’s given up on people and even the books in his store offer another reminder that the world is changing too rapidly. But when a mysterious package arrives at the store, it gives Fikry the chance to make his life over and see things anew.

This was such an odd movie. One one hand there is a lot that didn't work. For example, the acting by the non-leads is absolutely atrocious. Was David Arquette always such a bad actor? And so many of the scenes were completely mediocre. It often feels like a bizzarro Hallmark movie. But there were also things that I did like. The movie took a rather unique approach to telling the story by not having the focus of the movie be on one character. And despite the large stretches of mediocrity, it did have some heart (much of this was due to the male lead). follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
The premise seemed interesting! Combined with Kunal Nayyar as the lead, took a chance and watched. There are ups and downs, emotionally speaking. There actually IS a story. You will like the little girl who plays Maya. But will you like the movie? That is the million dollar question. Personally anything resembling a Hallmark, Lifetime movie never works for me. That's exactly what this film feels like. A Tv movie. Location hurts it as well. Entirely Sombre. Combined with a low budget sense throughout. 6/10
