Elena and Ivan are getting ready to enter into a new phase in their life. They are leaving the metropolis of Barcelona to settle in the Catalan countryside, where they are taking over a cork oak plantation. Not only will the business pay for their living, but they also want to exploit the plantation equitably and sustainably. But despite their ideals, Elena and Ivan soon find themselves in a crisis which will endanger not only their project, but also their relationship.

Part rural relationship drama, part social thriller - I was impressed with how naturally the tension builds in this film, bubbling over almost without notice. The two leads do a particularly excellent job of capturing the push-pull between them, both with regard to their relationship and in how they deal with an escalating conflict among the workers hired to help harvest their inherited cork plantation.
Not everything is so ideal in rural life.
[Filmin] Another look at the rural world that confronts some characters from the urban environment. There is a certain obsession recently with portraying the emptied Spain as an unknown and even dangerous place, but it works better when it adopts the thriller texture than when it tries to offer an overly conventional social message. The problem with this movie is that it sounds old-fashioned, that it doesn't really add anything new to a set of stories that offer a similar perspective. It is also harmed by that forced naturalness of some actors who are too loose.
