The Braves is like your birthday party, where the your date gets more attention than you. The film has a sloppy party feel with some interesting, pseudo-experimental directing choices that for the most part work and help elevate the film above just smother cancer movie. That said, you'll fall in love with Souheila Yacoub who steals the party and illuminates the screen even in the darkest scenes. Her inspired performance helped me gloss over any rough patches I may have hit when following the well trodden story path.
