Like a whispered secret you're deeply in on, Breathe says the important stuff quietly because to say it out loud would be to scream. Mélanie Laurent is such an underrated director. She uses her tools like a switchblade to scrape away all that is unnecessary and what remains are the things that are hard to look at. That said, I'm a sucker for a film with a happy ending.
