Geng Geng had been an ordinary girl before her entry to the best high school in the province by chance. She doesn't like her life there until she meets Yu Huai, her seatmate - their names make up the word "Geng geng yu huai", meaning "Unforgettable memories". They don't like each other at the beginning, but soon they start to understand each other.

This movie is a bit different than what you would get in an American coming-of-age movie. The characters and dialog are extremely sweet and innocent (I would have no problems letting my kids watch the movie) and this made for a unique movie experience.
I was pleasantly surprised at the emotional turn that the movie takes towards the end.
follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
There's a lot you could quibble about here: the story is very predictable for this genre of Chinese coming-of-age stories, Arthur Chen's acting is a little uneven, the ending is a bit abrupt, it's pretty cheesy, blah blah blah. Unfortunately for me, I still liked it because I am a huge sucker for this type of story. It helps that He Landou basically puts the entire movie on her shoulders and carries it. Like most of us, I can't say I have a memory of high school that matches this kind of story, but the movie did fill me with a warm nostalgia for those years right before I turned 20 where it seemed like anything was possible. The days where it simultaneously seemed like I was in the best days of my life and yet I knew the best was still to come. You probably shouldn't blind-buy an imported copy like I did, but it's worth a watch on Viki!
