I thought this was going to be one of those crazy '70s/early '80s Horror movies. One of those second tier flicks, something along the lines of "The Legacy", "Burnt Offerings", "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" or even "Bug". But it didn't even make it to that level. There isn't much of a story, the kills are unimaginative and the demon-locked-in-its-prison-plot has been done many times better than this. The effects were less than convincing and the characters were not likable, not even a little. The movie's only bright spot is Joanna Pettet. She's really good here as she plays Carolyn, a beautiful doctor who not only figures out what is going on, she is the hero at nearly every level. Pettet is also gorgeous so I'm sure that helped. Carolyn is involved in the only moment of the movie that surprised me, when she experiences a ghostly figure, followed by a statue that moves. Ruchard Crenna plays a pig-headed professor, who, for as smart as we are told that he is, screws up constantly.

Bonkers effort is better than some 70's horror movies, but with wild overacting and an overworked wind machine, this still fails to stand up with the classics.

A late 70s ghost house thriller that is often forgotten. Which is strange, as it's a pretty solid Grindhouse flick. Seen it as a kid and loved it, revisited it in my 20s and thought it was pretty lame and didn't age well, but coming back to it again, I had a blast with it.

This was my second attempt at watching this because I fell asleep the first time. It's a fairly standard haunted house fare that swings for the fences in the last 20 minutes. Quite a boring experience to be honest as it takes a while for anything to happen. Story-wise, it's so messy and nonsensical that I'm never sure what's really going on or why. It's really hard to maintain an interest throughout. Add to that the lack of decent scares and fairly bland soulless characters making this film extraordinarily dull. I doubt I will ever watch this again.
