This summer it's finally safe to go back in the water.
Sandy Ricks is sent by his mom to Coral Key, a rustic island in the Florida keys, to spend the summer with his uncle Porter Ricks. Sandy dislikes everything about his new environment until a new friend comes into his life, a dolphin named Flipper, that brings uncle and nephew together and leads Sandy on the summer adventure of a lifetime.

Pretty much has nothing to do with remake of the tv show Flipper which this 1996 film is a remake of 1963 one. Elijah Woods and Paul Woods deliver a good performance and the animatronic work combined with actual dolphins and hammerhead shark is good. Too bad whole movie is brought down by bad storytelling and even if only like hour and 30 minutes feel like it drags down in first half. Better off seeing Free Willy or Dolphin Tale unless you are like a huge fan of the original Flipper tv show.
I finally watched this one in its entirety! I'd heard a lot of people talking about it and seen it on TV, but I never really took the time to watch it from start to finish. It's a classic, though, so when I saw it was available on Netflix, I immediately watched it. I think it's a really nice, nostalgic family movie. I'm glad I finally got around to watching it.
