Man, what the fuck is this shit? What a weird movie. There's hardly any gore, most deaths are off-screen, the majority of shots are out of focus, many shots linger too long, things just happens as if there's missing scenes, the acting is disgustingly terrible, and the leprechaun is just doing the same stuff that's already been done in the previous films. Would have been better if there was no leprechaun at all, or if the leprechaun was the one who joined a gang and became a hip-hop legend with his "sick" rhyming skills. Why does it always have to be the same fucking story with this franchise.

The Leprechaun series takes a radical turn toward Blaxploitation with _Leprechaun in the Hood_. When three aspiring rappers break into a music mogul’s office to steal some startup funds they accidentally release an evil leprechaun. The script is filled with all kinds of nonsense, and the rapping is especially lame. Ice-T leads the cast and plays to his gangster image. The rest of the cast however, is rather bland and their performances are weak. And, it doesn’t help any that the characters are all a bunch of one-dimensional stereotypes. Despite the change in locale, _Leprechaun in the Hood_ still delivers the same tired, old schlock as the previous films.

Leprechaun 5: In the Hood gets a 4 out of 10 from me. While the movie has some campy charm, it feels like it leaned too much into absurdity without the cleverness to back it up. Warwick Davis, as always, does his best to elevate the film with his performance as the Leprechaun, but the plot is paper-thin, and the humor often falls flat. The mix of horror and hip-hop culture had potential but came across as forced and awkward more often than not. It’s got a few laughable moments and some so-bad-it’s-good qualities, but overall, it’s not enough to make up for the weak story, poor effects, and lackluster direction. Definitely for die-hard fans of the series or lovers of cheesy horror, but not much else to offer.
