Watch this back to back with Conan and I think this is more inventive and better acted. Both are cheesy, but I like the cheese! Fun and never slow, but takes FOREVER to wrap up!
Total guilty pleasure, but it's one of the stand outs of the long line of Conan ripoffs that came out. The premise is rad, the creatures are cool, rip torn is great in his hammy glory, and Tanya Roberts... oh boy!
I bet this film had a significant influence on the Game of Thrones author. Specifically the scenes where he sees through the eyes of animals. Also, Was this movie a major source of inspiration for He-Man (1983) show and toyline? Is this common knowledge?
First off the animal acting/stunts is awesome. They're always doing stuff and it's really cute to see. Unfortunately with such a focus on animals, some of them will die so do check the warning sites if that's something you wanna avoid. Nice props and sets. All of Aruk especially. Rip Torn looks horrible in this I love it. Gets slow in the middle. Sometimes things are just happening and you don't really care.
The protagonist of V as an ordinary Conan.
