It's hard to describe some of these martial arts comedies from Shaw Brothers. Especially the later ones. It's mostly comedy and martial arts, but little to no story, The story is either a vehicle to serve up a goal or a villain, not much else. In Crazy Shaolin Disciple, the story almost nonexistent, but we get a LOT of martial arts and comedy. The martial arts are very good, but that is no surprise considering the talent that is in this film. The comedy is a bit hit-and-miss, but since, according to my wife, I'm of the childish type, it mostly hits. So… I liked it! Crazy Shaolin Disciple is certainly entertaining enough to warrant a view if you are into martial arts, but then again, you probably wouldn't know about this one unless you were.
