An excellent movie about conflict diamonds and real life in Western Africa. This movie did actually change the way diamonds are seen in the Western World. One of DiCaprio’s best performances
_Blood Diamond_ is an exceptional movie that offers a fascinating glimpse into a dark underworld of diamond smuggling and war crimes. The movie features an interesting plot that weaves together the stories of several characters caught up in the illegal diamond trade in Sierra Leone. The film doesn't shy away from depicting the brutal reality of this trade, exposing the terrible conditions in which people work and the violent conflicts that it fuels. What makes _Blood Diamond_ stand out is its realism. The movie feels authentic, with a realistic portrayal of the setting and the people involved. The performances of the cast are all excellent, with Leonardo DiCaprio delivering a particularly powerful performance as a mercenary with a conscience. _Blood Diamond_ is an excellent watch for anyone interested in films that tackle important issues with honesty and realism.
"In America, it's bling bling. But out here it's bling bang." Today I let my girlfriend pick a movie and she picked one I haven't seen in a long long time and it was a good pick. Blood Diamond has two great leads in Hounsou and DiCaprio (minus the accent). They play off each other very well but Hounsou steals the show. The story was something that I enjoyed too. Totally blanked on the child soldiers bit. It also has some very dark stuff happening. Loved the kids nicknames though! Anyway all in all Blood Diamond is worth the watch and I think is a film where DiCaprio uses a gun the most. Wish he would do a straight up action movie soon.
A powerful eye-opener, showcasing the violent truth of child soldiers and beyond.
