A very 2001 movie that feels more neo-western, rather than vampire horror. Sure, there is blood - there is also a nice amount of boobs! The real problem with the movie is the lack of plot. A group of vampires are after a girl. We have our audience stand in, Sean, and our Van Helsing, Nick. There's just so little going on here, that it's less a movie and more a feature-length music video that draws from _Near Dark_ (1987), and _Vampires_ (1998). There is enough here for some people to enjoy, including a soundtrack that is nu metal, and post grunge. Acting is good. Overall, this has a solid look, just not enough substance.
Really good. I’m also realizing this movie was definitely inspiration for the Supernatural tv series that started airing a few years later.
Gritty and dark, _The Forsaken_ is a frightening vampire thriller. The story follows a driver who’s transporting a car to Miami, but runs afoul of a group of vampires when he picks up a hitchhiker that turns out to be a vampire hunter. The film has a unique vampire mythology, and the plot is rather interesting. However, the directing is weak and some of the acting is rather poor. _The Forsaken_ is entertaining and has a fair amount of action, but it has its share of problems too.
