Warren Beatty is simply captivating in Heaven Can Wait. His charm, paired with the movie's entertaining (if outlandish) high-concept plot, ensures a genuinely good time. It's a well-executed and memorable remake.

A quarterback returns after death

I can't disagree with the other tepid reviews, but I laughed out loud pretty consistently throughout, and Julie Christie's performance really sold the clincher in the end in a way that outshone the rest of the execution. It's also an interesting time capsule to look back on the first time our society tried to be responsible about environmental stewardship, and how the powers of influence at the time sabotaged that so that we're barely in the same place that we were over forty years ago.

It’s messy, inconsistent, and frequently repetitive but undoubtedly enjoyable. Sort of odd how much love it got from the Oscars back in 1979 too.
