Sally Hawkins is enchanting as always and delivers an excellent performance as a cheerful, carefree schoolteacher. However, one performance and character that has always stayed with me is Eddie Marsan as Scott. The character of Scott is the opposite of Hawkins's, as he is angry, miserable, and troubled. But he is a tragic character who has faced only misfortune, and Marsan plays him beautifully. Sadly, we can relate to him in some way. Who doesn’t want to be happy?
