Be the hero of your own story.
A young girl inhabits an isolated island with her scientist father and communicates with a reclusive author of the novel she's reading.

_Nim's Island_ is a pleasantly surprising family friendly view. It was great to see Jodie Foster in a somewhat comedic role for the first time since _Maverick_ I would guess. Once again, Abigail Breslin steals the show as the best young actress out there right now. While her situation and story are a little farcical, she is completely believable as Nim, a young girl living on an uncharted island in the South Pacific with her dad. He is a marine biologist doing research trying to discover a new ocean plant life he will name protozoa Nim. When he leaves for two days to sail to a research spot, a storm hits and leaves Nim scared and alone. Her banter with Alexandra, a famous author, and the way her novel character and real life intersect on the rescue trip were nicely done. Enjoy!
