Die Therapeutin Joy Richards versucht, die Ehe zu ihrem Mann Alan aufrechtzuerhalten. Nachdem er einen Radfahrunfall hatte, stellt sie ihre Beziehung unter neue Vorzeichen und ruft eine „offene Ehe“ aus. Auch im Kreis ihrer Familie, Freunde, Nachbarn und Joys Klienten steht immer wieder das Problem des verbotenen Verlangens im Zentrum und bringt die grundsätzliche Frage auf, ob lebenslange Monogamie sinnvoll und erstrebenswert ist.

I really dug this show. Great writing. If you enjoy family dramas give this a shot. I didn't love the bottle episode (1x05) as much as many seemed to, though I admired its boldness, but the series on the whole I liked very much. I'd love to see it renewed.
Another fine mini serie from the BBC, feels like the rating is a bit low at the moment.
The show peaked somewhere around episode 3 and 4 and then kind of fizzled out by the end. The problem with the show is that the only thing that separated it from a run-of-the-mill family drama is the idea of the open marriage used to fix a marriage. Unfortunately the only thing that was unique and - quite frankly - interesting is this idea. But seeing as this question is the only thing that propped up the show you could pretty much see all of the storylines and scenarios 2 or 3 episodes before they happened. And once they played out... then what? The secondary characters and their storylines were just filler. There was nowhere else to go with the show even if it as renewed.
