Minister kommen und gehen, doch Staatssekretäre verweilen mitunter Jahrzehnte auf ihren Posten. Sie sorgen dafür, dass übereifrige Minister nicht zu großen Aufruhr verursachen. Auch James Hacker, der Minister für Verwaltungsangelegenheiten wird, muss dies einsehen. Hacker ist ein verantwortungsvoller Demokrat. Als Minister, denkt er, kann er endlich ein paar überfällige Reformen durchsetzen. Doch die Rechnung hat er ohne seinen Staatssekretär Sir Humphrey Appleby gemacht.

The epitome of both British politics and British political satire. Although it is now 40 years old, it feels so current, it is sometimes frightening. Highly recommended if you liked the duo John Bird & John Fortune or Clarke & Dawe.

I have NO idea how i missed this gem all these years!!! This is a MUST WATCH if you think politics is ridiculous or in actual fact if you think it has a place in this world!!! This is some of the best writing I have seen on British TV :o)
