Painful to watch with all the religious nonsense and woke point making. Won't be watching ep 2
I was a huge fan of Blue Bloods and all the actors on the show especially Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, really felt invested in the show and that family. I was hoping the Boston Blue would be just as good if not better with the right characters to match. But sadly with all the religious nonsense thrown in and woke point making, everything feels so forced. Like they are shoving it down your throat. What's sad is Blue Bloods knew you to tell a story and to get it back to the core which are the Reagans but in this case there is no core just religiousness and wokeness being shoved don't your throat without an origin story. I am still watching the show but sometimes it's really tough to watch.
What a huge pile of junk. If this was to replace Blue Bloods it is an unmitigated disaster. It just doesn't work.
Such a. Disappointment. Dick Wolf finally misses. Took a solid character in Danny & made… this.
Boston Blue snuck up on me. I could never get into Blue Bloods, but I love a good crime procedural - and Sonequa Martin-Green was more than enough to get me to give this a shot. No regrets. The show doesn’t dodge real-world power dynamics around race or family, and while the open displays of religion and its role in family life might turn some people off, it didn’t scare me away. It feels intentional, not preachy. The crimey, puzzle-box storylines are fun, the relationships are genuinely cute, and the whole thing has a surprising amount of heart. I’m hooked and excited to keep watching.
