This show made me soooo invested on watching every thing. Very different from other gl shows i have seen.
I’d been enthusiastically looking forward to this series. My excitement was met, from the beginning, with the belief that the series would be as rich as the novel. There were beautiful production values, sets and locations. The performances were stellar. Namtan and Film brought to Ai-oon and May a shy, gentle, undeniable chemistry that was hypnotic. I need to shout out to Ciizi and Earn, who always shine in supporting roles, and to the writers for adding Kapook and her character of Phim. That triad became a fan favourite. The show really was a ride, but I fell off the trolley in the last few episodes. Sometimes having read the novel is a hindrance, not a help. They made several changes from the novel, most were innocuous, but one significant change sent the last 3 episodes of the series spiraling into course correction. Because I knew how the plot traps were woven seamlessly throughout the novel, it looked a mess to wait until the end to drop them (and some they invented) and then resolve them all in a rush. It left us and our characters emotionally broken for most of three episodes. Friends who haven’t read the novel had a different experience of the final 3 episodes than I did but it affected my enjoyment and, consequently, my rating. I give this series an 8 (dynamic) out of 10, where if they hadn’t caused their own plot problems at the end, I would probably have given it a 9 or a 10 (brilliantly crafted).
