Inspired by the British series Dates, Citas Barcelona continues its exploration of modern relationships through dates that, in just a few minutes, can change the course of a life or confirm what was already suspected. Each episode presents two different stories, some more compelling than others, but all with a recognizable human essence. Barcelona is not just a backdrop but a character in itself, with its streets, bars, and corners framing encounters filled with chemistry, awkwardness, excitement, and disappointment. The cast is one of its strongest assets, with standout performances like those of Natalia Tena and Adrián Lastra, whose on-screen chemistry shines. Another highlight is the story starring Anna Castillo and Ricardo Gómez, one of the most touching of the season. Although the series delivers moments of great sensitivity and realism, it suffers from inconsistencies in some storylines, where certain characters can feel exaggerated or unconvincing. The overall tone is light, balancing humor and drama well, making it an entertaining and easy watch. Without reaching the brilliance of its British counterpart, Citas Barcelona offers a contemporary take on romantic relationships, featuring sharp dialogue and an immersive atmosphere that will make many viewers feel identified.
[Prime Video] It manages to transfer the structure of double meetings in each episode that was part of the series "Cites" (2015-2016), being more interesting those that introduce surreal elements or break the structure of the series. Although its vocation of proposing Barcelona as a kind of romantic city in the style of Paris makes it fall into an excessive use of the tourist postcard that ends up being too artificial, the reflection of the loneliness of people in a society that apparently remains connected through social media is a clever looks at the emptiness of human relationships.
