Handlung
Roliie Taylor (Bryan Brown) ist Special-Effects-Experte und gilt in seinem Job als einer der besten. Eines Tages soll er für einen neuen Film eine explosive Schießerei in einem Restaurant arrangieren, wodurch auch die Regierung auf den begabten Effekte-Hascher aufmerksam wird und ihn für einen besonderen Auftrag engagiert. Rollie soll den Mord an einem Mafia-Zeugen vortäuschen und erledigt seine Arbeit wie üblich. Als jedoch das Justizministerium eine Gruppe von Killern beauftragt, die überbleibenden Zeugen des vermeintlichen Mordes aus dem Weg zu schaffen und somit Rollie den ambitionierten Polizisten Leo McCarthy (Brian Dennehy) auf den Leib hetzt, steht er plötzlich zwischen den Fronten. Kann Rollie das Missverständnis rechtzeitig aufklären und die wilde Hetzjagd überleben?

This movie holds up in a post-practical effects world. Now, he seems more like a modern day magician, but the action is solid for a modestly budgeted film of the mid-80's. Could have been a much bigger movie, but at the time, people were not as familiar with the abbreviation F/X as modern moviegoers are with CGI. Fun and fast paced with engaging characters. Brian Dennehy's cop Leo is so of the time, it practically is satire. 9/10

Tons of fun and an excellent premise. It does get too busy for it's own good at times, which takes away some points as a result, but overall with a little brain power, it's a great action/thriller

Another movie I thought was great when I was a kid. Must have watched it a dozen or more times. Still a great movie. The acting in a lot of it is pretty bad, but it doesn't take away from it. Still solid.

It gets pretty convoluted for this kind of movie. I mean seriously, I got lost a couple times. Still, it's got a great place and is loads of fun. Love how it shines a bit of a light on various effects and how they're used.
