Vicky Kaushal shines in the predictable and chaotic comedy Bad Newz, but the film struggles to deliver a satisfying rom-com experience. Kaushal's electrifying performance and screen presence are highlights, as he effortlessly owns most of the film and salvages it at several places. However, the screenplay is shoddy, the jokes are weak, and the writing is shallow. Triptii Dimri's performance as Saloni Bagga is criticized for lacking depth and impact, and her chemistry with Kaushal fails to impress. The film's reliance on stereotypes and modern, Instagram-inspired concepts is also noted. Despite the star power of Kaushal, Dimri, and Ammy Virk, Bad Newz ultimately disappoints due to its weak script and inconsistent humor. The film resembles an Instagram filter that loses its sheen after the first use - glossy on the surface but lacking substance. Kaushal's performance is the only good news in this otherwise mediocre comedy. Instagram @streamgenx
Was pulling my hair throughout seeing the incoherent and inconsistent decisions being taken by the characters. Some laugh out loud moments do not make up for the lackluster screenplay and one can skip this movie in return of keeping their brain cells.
Chaotic, bold, and built on a premise so ridiculous it almost dares you to take it seriously. The film knows exactly what it is though, and leans into the absurdity with confidence. The humour is loud, sometimes hit-or-miss, but when it lands, it really lands. Vicky Kaushal brings great comic timing, Triptii Dimri adds charm, and Ammy Virk matches the chaos with ease. The writing stretches the concept a bit too far in the second half, and after a time it becomes predictable and totally routine in the end. It definitely had more potential.
