Made a very last minute decision to see The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie and I’m glad I did because the movie was so silly and so much fun! Daffy Duck has always been my favorite Looney Tunes character and I always liked his shorts with Porky Pig so I was already sold on this movie especially with it having a B-Movie alien invasion plot. Eric Bauza is an incredibly talented voice actor and he absolutely kills it as Daffy and Porky (and every other cartoon character I’ve heard him perform) and Candi Milo made Petunia such a fun and endearing character. I was also pleasantly surprised to hear Peter MacNicol’s voice in this as well. He’s always hilarious. It’s not very often these days that we get a new 2D animated movie on the big screen but I am always very happy when we get one. The animation in this is incredibly energetic and always fun to watch. You can tell that the animators were having a blast with this movie and it shows. I hope more people check this out while it’s in theaters so we’ll get more 2D animated movies released theatrically and maybe (hopefully) Coyote vs. ACME will be considered for release.

Clearly WB has no idea what they are doing !! This was great old school Loony Tunes fun

I never would have believed they could still create a compelling, funny, somehow original but ultimately faithful new Looney Tunes film in this era of animation. Feels like something that got out of the lab by accident. An absolute blast.

I always had a soft spot for the Looney Tunes Cartoons, and this was a nice sendoff for it. The revival of the classic Daffy and Porky dynamic was one of its biggest strengths, and another was giving Petunia a charming and entertaining character. This movie has all of that charm with great animation, funny gags, VAs who know this profession inside and out, and most of all Farmer Jim. It’s just nice to see 2D animation in a theater again, and that this movie beat the corporate landscape to come out at all.

It’s cute and a lot of fun. With some twists you might not even see coming.
