I actually enjoyed the pacing of this movie. The horror aspects are mostly restrained for the first half of the movie, and I thought it highlighted a bit more of the allure someone like eve's character would feel without noticing the obvious evil all around. I get that most people are there for the jumps and gore, but I thought it was a fun movie that really does a strong job of contrasting itself with the 50 Shades/Twilight brand of romance where the man is unhealthily obsessed with the female lead for no apparent reason and somehow isn't supposed to be a psychopath. Evie is a badass.

All the pieces were there for a movie I'd love but somehow it didn't come together for me at all. Also the sound engineer should get a little nibble on the neck for dialogue that is utterly indecipherable punctuated by jump scares at like 60 fucking decibels louder. I suppose they had to scare with sound since most scenes were too dark to get scared by the visuals. Not the worst movie in the horror/vampire genre by any means, but just so boring and such a disappointment when compared to the promise of the trailer.
