**Candy Land** opens up it's legs to a dirty kinky unholy bloody deadly slasher featuring sex workers and... Christians! It starts as a murder mystery whodunit and rapidly goes into traditionnal slasher territory. What I like the most about it is it's characters, I grew attached to them and they're quite likable. Also it gives a solid look into the lives of truck stop sex workers and the solidarity between them, they're like one big family. I love the way it's filmed with a dirty camera in some scenes and the editing and cinematography looks great. The low budget doesn't really show that much sinse they found a really cool looking set. Acting's great. It takes place around Christmas which is interesting sinse it features Christians. Lots of blood, nudity and disturbing scenes but honestly it could have gone even further given it's premise. Loved the ending but the third act was repetitive with the kills. *Rented on YouTube*
This movie has no substance, no plot and no discernable reason of existing. It might be great for people who never saw any other horror or slasher movie but if you have a couple of classics behind your belt this film offers nothing. The sex-scenes are cheap, the shock value minimal, the comments on religion lame and played out, gore is basic, the mystery barely there. The only thing is has going for are the parallels between the film and it's subject matter: Truckstop crack-whores who'll give you a "good time" simply and only cause you haven't gotten any for weeks but ultimately leaves you with gonorrhea and a bad case of the runs.
This is one of the best slasher’s that came out in 2022. A bloody, gory, orgy of violence.
Like a guy who dies in a strip club, this goes hard. Lots of blood and nudity keep this original story of a cultist among sex workers fresh despite some stretches that were quite stretches.
