What could be a satire or even a dystopia becomes a horror movie that realistically, absurdly and creepily portrays the reality of an environment dominated by religious dogma. This fanaticism permeates several levels, distorting everything in its interests and resulting in alienation, oppression, submission and chaos, as well as abject and disturbing situations. This complex narrative is presented from the female perspective and features excellent performances, managing to involve and convince within an intense dynamic. The construction of the atmosphere is spectacular, mixing symbolism and metaphors, as well as a soundtrack that perfectly complements the story. Everything is raw, intriguing and visceral, conveying the necessary discomfort to provoke impact and deep reflection.
Fine Christian edutainment dealing with difficulties in contemporary society. Put it on for your teenagers struggling with the faith and let them absorb it in peace. Praised be the lord! A bit too long for the content. A 1:40 cut would have been solid. But then again, let the Lord teach us patience!
[HuelvaFF'21] The Bolsonaro era represented in a colorful satire, a look at religious extremism tinged with pinks, greens and reds. "The purge" with redemptive claims. Sin is in the streets, it is only expelled with violence. But there are more references to the cinema of Dario Argento and John Carpenter than to social criticism. A fascist state supported by social networks. Sexual desire represented in a face cream.
