Handlung
Eine Gruppe britischer Pensionäre beschließt aus verschiedensten Gründen, nach Indien „outzusourcen” und in den Ruhestand zu gehen - dort ist das Leben billiger, die karge Rente folglich mehr wert, und Exotik wird offenbar allerorts geboten. Voller Vorfreude durch Werbeflyer des neu restaurierten Marigold Hotels stellen sie sich einen geruhsamen Alterssitz vor, nur um entdecken zu müssen, dass der einstige Palast seine besten Tage weit hinter sich gelassen hat und seitdem nichts getan wurde. Doch obwohl ihr neues Heim weit weniger luxuriös ist, als gedacht, entdecken sie, dass das Leben und die Liebe noch einmal von vorn beginnen kann, soweit man die Vergangenheit endlich für sich ruhen lässt ...

It's about old(er) people but still enjoyable for a young audience ;) Very funny and partly dramatic movie – definitely worth watching!

The main reason to watch this film is to see six Hollywood legends interact on screen together. While the film itself leaves something to be desired (the dialog given to the Indian actors was at times atrocious), these actors elevate the source material to be more than it probably deserves. What a gem of a film. I watched it back in the day and rematches now June 2025. The feeling is the same.Stwllar cast, amazing performances...Dame Judy Dench and Dame Maggie Smith Bill Knight Dev Pattel....everyone....they are shining. In a movie set in the colourful backdrop of India where a lot of retired English people go each for different reasons to stay to the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel for the elderly run by Dev chattel. There is humanity humor drama dreams that refuse to die and some that do...dignity.....emotional survival and everything that makes this human life so incredibly....human. I love this movie. I recommend it to everyone who refuses to obey the norm of what life should be . Life is to be lived. Even when you think there is no more left in you. Superb!
